About Us
This website is dedicated to supporting and strengthening families of children with hearing loss.
There are many good sources of information on hearing loss and amplification and intervention strategies for children on the web and in print. That is great because developing communication skills is essential to children’s development. There are wonderful speech and language professionals around the world who are trained to encourage the development of language of children with hearing loss.
But there is not much support for the social and emotional development of children with hearing loss. Few professionals have expertise in this area that is so important to families. Families feel how crucial these issues are in their day-to-day life and they sense that these issues have long-term affects on their children.
The unique challenges of raising a child with hearing loss can be a strain on the whole family. That’s why the whole family unit is the focus of this website, meant for mothers, fathers, grandparents, or other concerned family members.
Together, parents can support and encourage each other through this rewarding and wonderful but sometimes challenging and bewildering experience of raising a child with hearing loss to become a healthy and successful human being.
